Kacie’s Story: My story at Goodwill started a few years back. I had started out working in the plant as a processor for a summer job! I eventually was offered an internship as an Employment Specialist through my wonderful boss Brenda. I was an intern for two summers and then in July 2020 I accepted a job as a full time Employment Specialist. All of the experiences and opportunities that Goodwill has given me has truly made me into the person I am today.
Sadly, my last day is 2/25/2021. But this experience has been nothing short of amazing. I remember at the very beginning when I was an intern, I had absolutely zero idea what I was doing and had very little education on people with disabilities. However, I took a leap of faith. With the help of so many people at Goodwill and all of my mentors, that leap of faith was the best decision I ever made. It was the biggest stepping stone for my life.
Leaving Goodwill is a bittersweet feeling. I am so so sad to be leaving and no longer working with the individuals I have been for the past couple years, however this job and this leap of faith, has given me so much strength, education, patience, and most of all, gratitude. It has pointed me in the direction of my future and shaped me into the person I am today. I have grown so much as an individual and feel that Goodwill has given me all those opportunities to grow. There are so many people within Goodwill that challenge you and push you, but these are the greatest things that you could ask of from coworkers, bosses, and the clients. I will forever be thankful that I was a part of the Goodwill family and the impact it has had on my life. I have found who I am and am the most myself I have ever been since working here!
